Description

“SOMA” is a Nordic larp about insanity, intimacy and giant robots.

TONE

« SOMA » is a dark and intimate psychological horror larp. The military scifi setting is there mostly to help you explore how the characters’ relationships get more and more intimate while their minds gradually dissolve.

CHARACTERS

The 16 characters are Pilots of giant alien robots, working in Units of four. They are among the few « X-Compatible » people: able to mentally connect with each other and control extraterrestrial war-machines (called SOMA).

THEMES

Insanity: Interfacing with extraterrestrial machines gradually corrupts the Pilots’ psyche.

Intimacy: A Unit’s effectiveness depends directly on the level of physical and emotional intimacy between its Pilots.

INSPIRATION

« SOMA » is inspired by RPGs like “Bliss Stage”, larps like “Baphomet” and “Lotka Volterra”, series like “Evangelion” and “Battlestar Galactica”, and movies like “Pacific Rim” and “Rakka”.

APPROACH

In this transparent and narrativist larp, participants collaborate to together create dramatically intense scenes and stories.

There is no competition and coherence is secondary (so neither gamist nor simulationist).
